STANG STUDIO

The Studio.

Who’s behind the studio?

Lola Barré

What is your background?

I graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and worked as a fashion

designer in Paris and London for around ten years. I then felt the need to return to drawing

and making, and gradually shifted towards textile design and pattern design. I wanted to

reconnect with a more manual practice.

Describe your style.

My work is bold, sensitive and intuitive.

It is rooted in a studio-based practice where drawing and manual techniques play a key

role. I explore collage, stencil and gouache through an approach that is both playful and

methodical. The hand remains visible and is an essential part of my visual language.

What are your main inspirations / influences ?

My inspiration can stem from unexpected colour combinations I come across in everyday

life. I am also inspired by Fauvist painters, traditional costumes, architecture in all its forms,

1960s furniture, as well as craft techniques such as mosaic or ceramics.

While working, what do you listen to ?

90s Eurodance.

What is your job's favorite part ?

The very beginning of the process, research through drawing or collage, the intuitive

phase.

What type of product / sector do you mainly work for ?

Fashion, stationery and home.
